Columbia Police were called to the intersection of West Broadway and Yorkshire Drive on August 5 at around 9:06 p.m. for a report of a collision with ejection involving a car and two bikes. Officers responded to the scene and discovered that a 2013 Volkswagen Golf had collided with a Kawasaki Ninja 259 and a Suzuki GS 500, causing one fatality and two injuries.

We regret to inform you that Columbia resident Walker Davis, 18, passed away as a result of the collision. We have informed Mr. Davis’s next of kin and have sent our sympathies to his friends and family. A driver and a passenger on another motorcycle also suffered injuries.

Both motorcycles were reportedly moving west on West Broadway at Yorkshire Drive, according to an initial investigation done there. The Kawasaki was turned over on its side and its driver, Mr. Davis, was ejected as the Volkswagen was pulling out of the easternmost drive of Kelly’s Ridge Apartments in the 3600 block of West Broadway.

The Suzuki’s driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle when it struck the front of the Volkswagen. The Volkswagen reversed after the crash and re-entered Kelly’s Ridge Apartments’ parking lot. Soon after, officers discovered the car, but the alleged driver had already taken off.

Both motorcycle riders and the passenger were taken to a nearby hospital by EMS. Shortly after arriving, Mr. Davis was declared dead.

Elizabeth D. Lopez, 23, of Columbia was detained by Columbia Police on August 6 as the suspected driver of the Volkswagen. She was charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in another person’s death and two charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in another person’s physical harm. She was returned to the Boone County Jail’s care.
